On February 6th, we,the “Section Européenne Anglais 3e”(SEA1), went to London with two teachers for four days. We wanted to discover London, its history, its people and above all, its … shops!
We stayed in a Youth Hostel in the centre of London, close to Picadilly Circus.
We were surprised by the hostel because we are not used to sharing showers! But the food was good! Some of us, the boldest, had an English breakfast in the morning!
We took the public transports, especially the underground.
We visited a lot of museums, fortunately because it was very cold outside!
We were lucky to see Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe, Museum of London and Museum of London Docklands, and the Museum of Natural History. We visited the Tower of London too, and saw the Crown Jewels.
On Wednesday, we went to Dunraven School to meet our penfriends. It’s a very big school compared to ours. It’s being rebuilt: it will be even bigger and very modern. They have built a new ecological gymnasium: it is made of recycled sea containers.
We attended some lessons: we saw a drama class, or a science class or a maths class. It’ s a bit different from here: they wear uniforms which they don’t like wearing, and there are more artistic subjects.
Then we helped them to do their homework and we showed them a little bit of Paris and Valmy school. Some of us talked in front of the whole class in English!
Everyday we could enjoy some free time to do some shopping, in museums or in the streets. The best places to shop were Covent Garden, Oxford Street and Picadilly Circus. Some shops were funny, like M&Ms World, a shop of four floors dedicated to M&Ms! We could practise our English buying souvenirs.
London Eye is a big wheel from which we can see the whole town. We were lucky to climb it! It was an awesome experience!
And of course, we saw all the main monuments of London.
We also had various walks in town and in the parks, where we made friends with tiny inhabitants of the parks : the squirrels!
We could enjoy this trip thanks to Miss Havas, and with the company of Mr Quinqueneau. We really are very lucky!
